Student Spotlight: Gavin Tade
My name is Gavin Tade. I graduated from Indian Hills with an Associate of Applied Science degree from the Aviation Pilot Training program. After graduation, I flew with the Iowa Air National Guard and was honored for joining the 1000-Hour Club. I am currently a Boeing 757/767 pilot for American Airlines, and an F-16 Instructor Pilot in the Air Force Reserves in Fort Worth, Texas.
Indian Hills Community College gave me the tools I needed, both mentally and physically, to succeed as an Air Force Fighter Pilot and a Commercial Airline Pilot. The Indian Hills instructors taught me to come back strong after setbacks and to be humble in triumphs. Not every flight is going to be perfect, but that doesn't mean you don't strive for perfection. Our instructors trained us
to work as hard and as smart as we could and, thanks to their help, I now enjoy the amazing experience of flying aircraft and sharing my knowledge with others.
I think what stands out the most from my learning experience is how all the people I came into contact with at Indian Hills really cared about me personally and my future success. They were some of the most caring people I have ever had a chance to meet. The instructors at Indian Hills Community College are an outstanding group of true professionals.
