Medical Transcriptionist
The Medical Transcriptionist program gives you the skills to become a medical language specialist. Medical transcription requires knowledge of medical terminology, standards, documentation requirements, and organization of health records. A medical transcriptionist translates, from oral to written form, information about patients dictated by health care professionals. These reports include histories and physicals, consultations, operative reports, discharge summaries, referral letters, and other documents. You will receive experience in a health care agency and acquire entry-level skills for a career as a medical transcriptionist where you will have the opportunity to work in medical offices, public and private hospitals, teaching hospitals, clinics, radiology departments, or for medical transcription services or businesses.
