The Indian Hills Cheer Squad has been an integral part of the success of the IHCC basketball team for many years. Participation in the Indian Hills Cheer Squad is a great way to contribute to a student’s mental and physical well-being, enhancing the squad member’s leadership training, ability to make decisions, and performance as part of a team. Located on the Ottumwa Campus, the Cheer Squad acts as a sort of public relations ambassador for Indian Hills Community College and the IHCC basketball team.
Tryouts for the Indian Hills Cheer Squad are held both in the spring and in the fall, after the start of the new academic year. Squad members practice their routines, stunts, and cheers in the preseason so they are ready to perform once the regular season begins.
The Cheer Squad supports the basketball team at all home games and some road games, as well. They have also been an important part of the national tournament experience for the Warriors.
In addition to cheering at basketball games, the Cheer Squad holds a clinic for youth who are interested in cheerleading and makes public appearances on behalf of the college and its athletic teams. In the past, they have been involved in fundraising activities, both on campus and in the community.
